Kanayo Precious Omonoju

Program Officer (Training)

In 2018, at the 10th year anniversary celebration of CCSI, Precious Omonoju won the award for the “Most Caring” staff of the year.  Many of the staff agreed that if the award should be presented each year, Precious would continue to win it.

Precious came to CCSI in 2011 after a Degree in Pharmacy from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom.  But she didn’t just bring two university degrees and expertise in public health, she added to her basket of talents, a caring heart.

“My first impression of Precious when we met in 2011 is still the same impression, that is she is meticulous and caring,” says Adenike Ayodele who joined CCSI the same time as Precious. Over an eight-year period, Adenike has had time to observe that “she’s been consistent at being caring and has a dogged approach to any assignment given to her.”

Precious has brought that doggedness to her coordination of CCSI flagship training programme; the Leadership in Strategic Communication Workshops (LSCW). She is responsible for preparatory, planning and coordinating the course. Her expertise and participation have proven valuable over the years and has contributed immensely to successful delivery of all the editions held for the past eight years. She also supports with CCSI’s specialized training and team-building exercises.

In addition to her training portfolio, she has supported the implementation of several CCSI projects like Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI 1), Family Planning Providers Network (FPPN), Micronutrient Initiative, NetCare and repare, UNICEF IPCI, UNICEF End Violence Against Children and NURHI 2 Post Pregnancy Family Planning project etc.

As a public health communication practitioner, she has supported in the development and implementation of communication strategies which has served as a link to the determinants of behaviour which directly or indirectly impact on positive behaviour change.

Her caring heart also extends to her extra-curricular activities. Describing herself as “a lover of God, upholding the truth of God’s word, unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ,” she is a Relationship Coach, and much sought after speaker. On all her social media handles, she hosts “Relationship Today, with Precious,” teaching both single and married people “how to fall in love.”

Precious believes she has grown at CCSI, she said: “I love working at CCSI because I have learnt so much, grown and become better in my work and as an individual. The work climate is very friendly, and colleagues have become an extension of family. When this happens, you can be yourself!”

It is a mantra she takes personally. On her social media page, she leaves a simple, but profound advice for her fans. “Everybody is packaging, but remember, always stay true to yourself. Be authentic.”
